Navigating US Insurance
University Mandates
Almost all US universities mandate health insurance. They often automatically enroll you in their own plan, which can cost $2,000 – $4,000 per year. These plans are comprehensive but often very expensive for a student budget.
- Automatic enrollment
- Charges added to tuition bill
The Waiver Process
You can opt-out of the expensive university plan if you buy an alternative plan that meets the university’s strict criteria. This is called a “Waiver.” We help you find ISO/PSI plans that are pre-approved for your specific university’s waiver form.
- Save 50-70% on premiums
- We guide you on filing the form
PPO Networks (United/Aetna)
US healthcare works on “Networks”. Going to a doctor within your insurance network (PPO) is much cheaper. Our plans use massive networks like UnitedHealthcare or Aetna, giving you access to 90% of doctors and hospitals across the USA.
- Cashless direct billing
- Lower out-of-pocket costs

US Insurance FAQs
Is health insurance mandatory for F1 students?
While the US government does not mandate it for F1 students (unlike J1), almost every US university mandates it. You cannot register for classes without showing proof of insurance or enrolling in the school plan.
What if my waiver gets denied?
If you buy a plan through us and the university denies it despite it meeting criteria, most providers (like ISO/PSI) offer a full refund guarantee. We help you check the requirements beforehand to avoid this.
Does it cover pre-existing conditions?
Some “ACA-compliant” plans cover pre-existing conditions immediately. Cheaper “short-term” plans may have a waiting period (e.g., 6-12 months). We will explain the difference so you choose the right one.
